Thank you, Julia. Many of my friends and family think I'm nuts for remaining masked and avoiding crowds and unventilated spaces so long after they have decided the pandemic is "over." I say I have a friend with Long Covid who has inspired me to avoid it at all costs. That friend is you, Julia. Thank you.
You are not nuts and you are not alone. Everyone I know has moved on but me. So take heart in knowing that you are not alone in masking and isolating. Stay safe.
My deepest condolences, Julia. The profound loss of our mother impacts our lives beyond words, yet you managed to articulate the depths of your grief in a beautiful poetic manner. Thank you, for sharing your raw brokenness. Hugs to you. The painting, her painting, a treasure…now an heirloom. Her love lives. ✨ The grief poem wrapped my spirit in comfort as I just lost my sister 3 wks ago to a devastating cancer that ravaged her quickly. During the coldest and most extreme Midwest winter of my lifetime, the bitter harsh weather is a metaphor to the gripping isolation of grieving tethering my soul. Please take care of yourself during this delicate period in your life. The emotional stress and depths of grief manifest hard in physical depletion. We’re here when you are able to share. ❤️🩹
My Mom passed from Parkinson's dementia about a decade ago. Her art was her sanctuary and when she could no longer paint she would sit for hours, looking at it and smiling. I find the same solace when I look at it today. Thank you for sharing.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Your mother sounds like she was a wonderful person--and a very talented painter also. Thank you for allowing me to meet her through your words. My deepest sympathy to you and your family.
My deepest sympathy, Julia. Your mother was an extraordinary person, as are you. Both my parents are gone, but I thank them every day for giving me life. And for whatever they did wrong, I have long ago forgiven them. If someday we as a species can free ourselves from linear time, we can revisit the deceased in our time machines. Until then, we have our memories. Cherish them. Wishing you better health and much peace.
You are not alone. We mask and isolate as we’re senior caregivers for our handicapped adult son - protecting each other. I can’t understand a world where we don’t care enough to do these things. I’m beyond disappointed that no news program, or government organization EVER speaks about it. One has to dig and dig to get information.
My deepest sympathy. My aunt passed of dementia in January as well, and it was so sad to see her decline. We've missed her a long time it feels like, but the grief is also fresh. May your mother's memory be a blessing.

Likewise, Julia, you inspire me to continue to mask and observe Covid cautions. I am so, so sorry for your loss! Sending condolences.
